Mediation and Conciliation

Mediation and ConciliationIn July 2002 Ed moved from practising at a national law firm to
the Building Commission. He set up and managed the Dispute Resolution Unit, to resolve disputes in domestic building construction.

This process was a part of the Building Advice and Conciliation Victoria (BACV) dispute resolution service provided jointly with Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Ed and his team also designed the format and provided independent inspection reports for the disputed building defects, to assist the parties by making independent and impartial determinations of technical items.

As part of the BACV process, Conciliation or Mediation is also offered to the parties. Ed is an accredited Mediator with the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia, and has successfully resolved many disputes.

Ed takes a ‘hands-on’ approach. He will visit your building site, if necessary to facilitate the resolution of your dispute.

Ed has also served as an Assessor of the Institute for examination and accreditation of mediators in Victoria.

Ed Samo has been appointed as a Mediator at Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) in the Domestic Building List and mediates building-related disputes.  Through VCAT Ed has obtained National Accreditation as a Mediator, and is on the external Panel of Mediators of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria.
